General duties:
The Ecologist Team Leader works within Terra Nova National Park to lead the ecological monitoring program and to provide technical advice on conservation issues. The successful candidate will be open-minded and inclusive, have a passion for the natural world and will bring diversity of experience to strengthen our dynamic team. The successful candidate will lead engagement, coordination, and communication with Indigenous communities, government, and non-government partner agencies. Their ability to demonstrate the sensitivities required to support reconciliation and Indigenous Knowledge will be an asset. Leading a team of five, the Ecologist Team Leader is responsible for overseeing the ecological monitoring program. This involves managing field work, analyzing, and interpreting monitoring data, writing scientific reports, and providing input to corporate documents. This position also provides Parks Canada managers and partners with applied scientific advice on ecological integrity, rapidly emerging ecological issues, climate change and/or Species at Risk concerns. The position manages operational budgets and provides input to support acquiring resources and staffing.

The position primarily plans, supervises, oversees technical services to support a planned asset management program. The Technical Services Officer also leads a team and manages contracts and budgets.
