Orientation

Visiting Gwaii Haanas on your own boat or kayak? You must attend a Gwaii Haanas orientation.

Orientations are held at the Haida Heritage Centre at Kay Llnagaay and last one hour. You will receive your trip permit after the orientation.
 

2024 Orientation Schedule:

June 3 - 28; Monday - Friday at 9 am
July 1 - Aug 17; Monday - Saturday at 9 am
Aug 19 - 30; Monday - Friday at 9 am
Sept 2 - May 31; Monday - Friday by appointment
 
This session includes information on closures, emergency protocols, and how to travel respectfully. It is also an opportunity to connect with Gwaii Haanas staff and ask questions about your upcoming trip.

 

If you are unable to attend a regularly scheduled session, contact our office at least three weeks prior to your planned trip. 

Special bookings

To request an orientation for a large group or outside of regular working hours, call 1-877-559-8818. Special bookings cost $85.25, and payment is made at time of booking.
