Public Safety Notice - Couchiching

Issued: May 04, 2019

Parks Canada advises the public that water level and flow downstream of Lock 42 Couchiching have been increased in order to maximize the outflows from Lake Simcoe. The water levels in Lake Simcoe are high and continue to increase due to the high runoff from the recent precipitation. For safety, the public is encouraged to avoid Lock 42.

Parks Canada also wishes to remind boaters that the Trent Severn Waterway is not yet open for boating and that water levels and flows across the system are high and not suitable for safe boating. Please exercise caution around Parks Canada Trent Severn Waterway structures, stay back from the water’s edge and avoid dams.

Please be aware that all Flood Watch information is provided through local Conservation Authorities. If you find yourself in need of flood mitigation assistance, please contact your local municipality. If you are in immediate personal danger or are witness others in danger please call 911.

The Trent-Severn Waterway provides up-to-date Water Management information on our Water Management InfoNet including water levels, the most recent Water Management Updates and information on how water management is conducted.
