Parks Canada (mainland Nova Scotia) operational update – June 16, 2021

Parks Canada continues to align with reopening plans made by the Province of Nova Scotia by resuming additional visitor services at the sites it administers in mainland Nova Scotia, including most national historic sites.

The following services and facilities will open to visitors on June 16, 2021:

Site What’s open as of June 16, 2021
Halifax Citadel National Historic Site 

Open daily, 10 am to 4 pm

All facilities and services will be open, with the exception of: 

  • Coffee Bar
  • Fortress Halifax: A city shaped by conflict exhibit 
  • Raise your spirits tour and tasting 
  • Ghost tours (public and private) 

Event and facility rentals available on a case by case basis.

Georges Island National Historic Site 

Open Saturdays and Sundays only, beginning June 19

Open Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays starting July 2

Visit pc.gc.ca/georges to reserve your ticket.

Fort Anne National Historic Site 

Open daily, 9 am to 5 pm

All facilities and services will be open.

Port-Royal National Historic Site 

Open daily, 9 am to 5 pm

All facilities and services will be open.

Grand-Pré National Historic Site 

Open daily, 9 am to 5 pm, beginning June 17

 

Kejimkujik National Park and National Historic Site 

Visitor reception centre, including gift shop, open daily, 9 am to 5 pm

All facilities and services will be open, with the exception of services normally open for July and August only:

  • food service (June 27)
  • guided programs (July 1)
Kejimkujik National Park – Seaside 

All facilities and services will be open, with the exception of

  • Port Joli Head Trail (closed due to storm damage) and
  • St. Catherines beach (closed due to piping plover nesting)

To align with provincial guidelines, all indoor spaces will operate at 25% capacity. Masks are required in all indoor spaces and outside when physical distancing is not possible.

Regular entry fees apply.

Parks Canada is asking visitors to be cautious and conservative in their choice of activities and to stay within the bounds of personal knowledge and skill level when visiting a Parks Canada administered place.

The health and safety of visitors and employees are of utmost importance to Parks Canada and the Agency is following the advice, guidance, and requirements of public health authorities and experts in its operations and continues to make every effort to limit the spread of COVID-19.
