Are you interested in going on your first camping trip but don’t know where to begin? The Parks Canada Learn-to Camp team has you covered!

The Parks Canada Learn-to Camp program equips you with the knowledge and skills you need to feel confident planning and carrying out your first camping adventure. We’d love you to come and learn about camping, national parks, hiking, camp cooking, and the outdoors with us!

Throughout the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), there are three ways you can get your first taste of camping or enhance your skills to take your camping experience to a new level:

Free, drop-in sessions at convenient community hubs, parks and festivals throughout the GTA to introduce participants to Parks Canada and camping in the great outdoors.

Workshops

Free workshops (90 minutes) to help participants acquire basic camping skills and learn about outdoor activities. These are interactive workshops and take place in many public libraries and community centres.

Think you might want to experience the pleasure of overnight camping but just need a helping hand? Register for Parks Canada's overnight Learn-to Camp program in Toronto! *Registration opens in early May, check back here for more details.

The overnight Learn-to Camp program introduces visitors to camping in a fun and safe way. Parks Canada and Mountain Equipment Co-Op (MEC) have teamed up to teach the art of setting-up camp! This program provides you with all the skills you need for a successful night of camping under a starry sky. 

These low-cost, overnight camping experiences take place in Glen Rouge Campground within Rouge National Urban Park. Camping gear and workshops are provided; participants bring their own food and sleeping bags.
