Yoho National Park

With Highway 1 (the Trans-Canada Highway) running through the centre of Yoho, most people visit by car or RV. The closest major airports are in Calgary (213 km away) and Vancouver (760 km). Visitation is highest in the summer as some hiking trails stay snow-bound until mid-June. Camping is available from May to October. Accommodations and restaurants are available in and around the community of Field located in the heart of the park. With so much to do, planning is key to fitting it all in.

Hours of operation

Yoho National Park is open year round. The peak season is during July and August. Open dates for visitor centre, campgrounds, roads and seasonal closures.

Directions

By car

Highway 1 (also called the Trans-Canada Highway) runs 45 km through the centre of the park. It is the only major route through the park. There is no public transportation in Yoho National Park. Most people travel in a personal vehicle. Vehicle rentals are available in Golden, B.C. as well as in Banff and Lake Louise, Alberta. Visit 511 Alberta and DriveBC for current road conditions

By air

Calgary and Vancouver are the closest airports that are serviced by major national and international carriers. Connections may be made to Cranbrook, 245 km south of Golden, B.C. Airport Shuttles from Calgary, Alberta are available to Lake Louise near the park's east entrance.

By rail

There is limited rail service on a sightseeing basis through Yoho National Park. Contact Rocky Mountaineer for details.
