Townsite Campground and all backcountry campgrounds reservations are now avaliable

Townsite Campground

Sites are available for the Townsite Campground by first come, first serve self-registration.

Operating season (nights): April 25 to October 13, 2024 (weather permitting)

October 10, 2023 to April 25, 2024: Use of the Townsite Campground is weather-dependent. Electrical only and unserviced sites are available. There are no washrooms, showers or kiosk services in the campground.

Operating Dates:

  • April 25 through October 13, 2024
  • H-loop closes September 2, 2024
  • B-loop closes September 23, 2024

Reservable Dates: May 3 through September 8, 2024

2024 reservations are available via Parks Canada Reservation System.

Belly River Campground

Belly River Campground is closed for the season.

Operating dates: May 17 through September 2, 2024

Campsites at Belly River Campground are available on a first-come, first-served basis only. We do not take reservations for this campground.

During peak season (July and August), the campground tends to fill quickly and is usually full for the night by early afternoon.

Group camping

Group camping is available at Belly River Campground. This camping area is for groups of 25 or more.

Reservations can be made for Belly River Group Campground by calling 403-859-5133

Backcountry camping

There are nine backcountry campgrounds in Waterton Lakes National Park.

Operating dates: Year round

Reservable dates:

  • May 17 through October 13, 2024: Boundary Bay, Bertha Bay, Crandell Lake
  • June 20 through October 13, 2024: Goat Lake, Snowshoe, Twin Lakes, Lone Lake, Alderson Lake, Bertha Lake

Backcountry reservations available via Parks Canada Reservation System starting Wednesday, January 24 at 8:00 a.m. MT

Crandell Mountain Campground

Crandell Mountain Campground remains closed due to damage sustained in the Kenow Wildfire.
