Battle of Tourond's Coulee / Fish Creek National Historic Site

Walk in the footsteps of General Middleton and his troops as you stroll along the banks of the South Saskatchewan river. Imagine making camp with Gabriel Dumont and the Métis resistance, hidden from view in the nearby ravine at Tourond's Coulee. Find the spot which was once Tourond's homestead, shelled into rubble by the Canadian’s nine pounder cannon.

Picture the confusion as just 150 Métis and First Nations allies beat back 500 men of the Northwest Field Force. Stand at the scene of the final Métis victory against Canadian forces in this battle over land rights, which eventually gave birth to the province of Saskatchewan.
